10 Sci-Fi TV Show Moments That Pissed Off Fans

5. Carl's Death - The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead
AMC

The Walking Dead was a smash hit in its first release, pulling huge ratings as it followed Rick Grimes through his survival in a zombie apocalypse. The show boasted a great cast and some violent and gory moments on screen.

One of the big attractions of the series was Grimes’ quest to be reunited with his family, primarily his son, Carl. Fans enjoyed following Carl through the seasons as he grew up from a scared child into a flourishing teenager kicking zombie butt. Through the years, we watched Carl age and mature as a character and were excited to see him take after his tough-as-nails father.

However, in Season 8, Carl met his end in the one of the most slapdash character deaths of the series. After fighting to save his civilisation and killing zombies along the way, it is revealed Carl has a walker bite that he has hidden out of macho stubbornness from earlier on.

Carl’s death left many fans annoyed and prepared to quit the series. His death came away just as his character was becoming independent, no longer a child relying on the adults. The unsatisfying way in which he died left fans wondering why they chose to kill off Carl, who had potential in the future rather than other characters who had run their course on the show.
