10 Sci-Fi TV Show Mysteries That Can Never Be Solved

6. The White Light Book (The 4400)

Firefly River Book Bible
The WB

The 4400 was cancelled abruptly back in 2007 and there were several plot threads left dangling, not the least of which was the cliff-hanger that the series ended on. But there were other questions that needed answering, including the White Light Book. Central to the White Light Cult, the Book was the scripture of the group and often appeared to be gibberish.

Kyle Baldwin manages to make off with the Book and with the help of Isabelle Tyler, decrypts a segment of the text. They discover that the text is in fact a literal list of names, each of whom would survive receiving Promicin (the wonder-chemical that gives the 4400 their abilities). The list is far-reaching, covering world leaders, scientific minds and religious figures. The Cult believed that when everyone on the list had received the Promicin, God would descend to Earth.

This is all well and good for a cult to believe in... but who wrote the list? It had supposedly been around since the 1920s and included people like Tom Baldwin, who hadn't been born by then. So did it come from the future? Did God happen to leave it lying around? Where'd it come from?

We'll never know.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
