10 Sci-Fi TV Shows That Wasted Incredible Characters

9. Jenny - Doctor Who

Stranger Things Barb
BBC

One of the beloved sci-fi revival's most notorious loose threads, Jenny's first (and as yet, only) appearance was in the 2008 episode "The Doctor's Daughter".

The episode is an odd little story featuring a war that has lasted for generations (or just a few days, depending on who you ask), in which clones are fighting against one another.

After the Doctor's DNA is used to produce a clone, we meet Jenny, a bouncy, gung-ho young woman who is more than a little Time Lord.

After being shot through one of her two hearts, Jenny jumps back up, hops into a spaceship and flies away, and that's the last we ever see or hear from her.

While it makes very little sense from a narrative point of view, when you consider the wider implications of her existence, it's not hard to understand why she was quietly forgotten; if the Doctor can simply clone himself a load of new Time Lord children, much of the show's emotional gravity is instantly negated.

It's a shame that she was written off so quickly, as seeing the Doctor travel for a brief time with his own daughter/clone would have been an interesting and entertaining watch, but after 12 years, it doesn't seem that it will ever happen.
