10 Sci-Fi TV Shows That We'll Be Glued To This Season

2. Atlantis

Atlantis A Percy Jackson-esque spin on Greek mythology, Atlantis was created to fill the void that Merlin left in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. The series, which aired in September on BBC One (and is set to air on BBC America this November 23rd) is focused on a young man called Jason (of Jason and the Argonauts perhaps?) who finds himself in the city of Atlantis. From what I've seen of the show, Merlin fans would be hard pressed to find another "replacement" for Merlin, as the feel and story are really very similar. There's even a CGI dragon or two, so you'll feel right at home. Although it takes a little bit to warm up to this one, the characters are genuinely likable and it it will definitely be a nice buffer for more intense shows like Dracula and Helix, which will likely keep you on the edge of your seat. But don't get me wrong, there's definitely a place in the sci-fi world for shows like this, and Atlantis should be very enjoyable to watch as the season progresses.
