1. The Umbrella Academy
The debut offering of The Umbrella Academy took the world by storm when it hit Netflix early last year. Though successful comic book properties are nothing new, the success of this one caught many off-guard because it wasn't a mainstream (a.k.a. Marvel or DC) franchise. But that didn't stop the Dark Horse adaptation from reeling us all in with its engaging characters and enticing narrative.
Centering on a group of dysfunctional superhero siblings who are reunited upon their father's death, they take it upon themselves to solve the mystery of how he died and stumble their way into the realisation that an apocalypse is coming... and it's up to this flawed lot to save the world.
The second season hits Netflix in its entirety at the end of July, so that gives you plenty of time to jump into (or back into) Season 1 and acquaint yourself (or, again, reacquaint yourself) with this unforgettable band of misfits.
