10 Scrapped Ideas For Star Trek: Enterprise Season 5

1. More Shran!

Jeffrey Combs needs to receive star billing on at least ONE Star Trek show, though we would be more than happy to see him lead all of them. However, this very nearly came to pass on the fifth season of Star Trek: Enterprise. He appeared in the show as a couple of characters, but his Andorian Commander Shran was his most popular by far.

Over the four years that the show did receive, he popped up at least once a season, if not several times more. Going into the fifth season, Manny Coto said that he would probably have been joining Archer's crew. He may not have joined Starfleet itself, but taken on a role rather like T'Pol's had been in the first season, a representative and observer for Andoria.

This, along with the rest of the entries on this list, are the cruelly tantalizing tastes of what could have been, had the show been given the full seven-year run that the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine ,and Voyager all received. Declining ratings, slashed budgets, and the mood of the times all combined to hurt the show. But those ideas are still there and, in this age of revivals and remakes, there is nothing to say that Alex Kurtzman won't give the show another shot.
