10 Seinfeldisms That Became Part Of Our Everyday Life

2. Master Of Your Domain

Among the many euphemisms and innuendos that the writers used to avoid explicitly saying what The Contest was actually about, this is undoubtedly the most famous and enduring one.

The episode was an instant hit upon release, but it ended up having an unexpectedly long-lasting legacy and influence. Its central catch-phrase - "master of your domain" - in particular, became a generation-transcending mantra of those that resist the urge to masturbate.

The Contest is one of the most parodied and referenced episodes of all time. It was referenced in at least three other Seinfeld episodes, but it was also goofed in other hit sitcoms such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Big Mouth, among others.

One could argue that even the No Nut November trend is somewhat inspired by the episode's central plot, but the influence there is probably very indirect. Both are certainly in the same spirit.
