The 2005 revival certainly had a lot of surprises for us, what with the Doctor being the only survivor of his race, the Time Lords, after a horrific war across eternity with the Daleks. He was now a broken man, damaged by the actions he made, the hells he was forced to face, and the person he had to become.

It all came to head when he encountered the last surviving member of his bitter enemy, challenging his very being, and who he would change into if he wasn’t stopped by Rose. The Ninth Doctor finally began to heal, with the help of his companion, but the ghosts of his past quickly came back to haunt him. His arrival on the Game Station showed him the consequences of his previous intervention, which had now led to humanity’s downfall and corruption.

Worst of all, the very monster behind this horrific change of history were in fact the Daleks. They had survived. Only this time there was an entire fleet of them, sitting at the edge of the galaxy, ready to invade the universe. The Ninth Doctor is speechless; outgunned and outnumbered, with Rose caught at the centre of it all.
