10 Shocking Twists That Would Improve Major TV Shows
8. Two And A Half Men The Whole Show Is Charlie Sheen's Personal Hell
Two and a Half Men used to be the most popular comedy on television. It rode high on the wave of sex jokes, jokes about Charlie Sheen's past, and more sex jokes. But after Sheen left the show due to a bitter spat with its producers about whether or not it was okay for him to do copious amounts of drugs while he was contractually obligated to be on TV, the show's ratings have dropped considerably. Ashton Kutcher, despite his good looks and his seasoned ability to deliver sitcom-level punchlines after being on That 70s Show, has not been as big of a draw for audiences the former Tiger Blood spokesman. Each episode of the show in its later years became not only an episode of Two and a Half Men but an insight on the damaged psyche and liver of its star, which naturally made it more exciting to watch. But that subtextual chaos has been removed from Men, and now it's scrambling to stay relevant while staying the same. The idea of having Kathy Bates play Charlie Sheen's spirit was good, but why not have the last couple of seasons of the show be all a part of the experience that Charlie Sheen has in hell after dying? No, I don't mean the pseudo-persona Charlie Harper, I mean actually have Charlie Sheen play himself watching the show within the show from hell. It's a pretty steep departure for a show to take, but it would be an uncompromising and insane conclusion. Cut to red.
