10 Shocking Twists That Would Improve Major TV Shows

7. Sherlock €“ Sherlock And John Get Together

I get it, the whole bromance thing allows entertainment to acknowledge a quasi-sexual partnership between two male characters without containing the supposed "transgressive content" of a legitimate homosexual relationship. But what was once a fun way to reference the absurdly close relationships between male characters in action (and in this case detective) stories has become an almost bland representation of the reticence of TV producers to broach controversial subject matter: all the fun of being a homosexual without any of the dudes banging! Sherlock has willingly placed itself into this situation because its admittedly more fun to watch Sherlock and Watson's love/hate relationship play out while you watch its resident sociopath look good and solve crimes. But a welcome twist would be to embrace the barrage of speculative fanfiction and have its two leads consummate their clear attraction to one another. John's new wife could even be his new beard as he traverses in the realm of "unsavory behavior." Shows like Torchwood have embraced heroes in non-heterosexual relationships, and a grand way to ring in Sherlock Holmes new stature in the realm of public domain would be to truly take the character to the next level in his natural progression. It's okay Sherlock, we still love you in just the same way. Now go solve more murders, you clever man.
