10 Shows You Didn’t Realize Were By Seth MacFarlane

2. The Pitts

Perhaps even less known than The Winner, The Pitts was another failed comedic production by Seth MacFarlane that gave life to a regular family’s “fantastical” misfortunes.

The show focused on the characters Bob, Liz, and their family. The general concept was that, although they seemed like your prototypical American family, they incurred a sort of bizarre bad luck that most people couldn't even fathom. That very idea might have also been the show's downfall, as it was difficult for viewers to rally behind characters who randomly had metal pipes go through their heads or were literally enamoured by their Volkswagen Beetle. Some stuff worked better in the cartoon world.

In addition to being criticized for its contrived humor, FOX decided to cancel the sitcom just five episodes into its first season, although the network paid for seven. The remaining two episodes aired internationally but received little to no promotion by FOX.

In 2007, FOX announced it was working on an animated version of the show, but by 2008 said the concept was off of the creative table, as the pilot failed to impress top executives. MacFarlane has seemingly steered clear of the show ever since, as it truly was The Pitts (womp).
