10 Signs You're Suffering From Doctor Who Withdrawal Syndrome

5. You're Pretending That Every Show Is Actually Doctor Who

OK, so this is when you know that you're really finding it difficult to distinguish between what's real and what's not. Doctor Who alumni are always popping up all over the shop and it's always a comfort when one of your favourite actors appears in another programme and proceeds to brighten up your TV screen and heart in equal measure. There is a line to watching Doctor Who stars taking on other roles, though, and for some it's difficult not to cross it, especially when Doctor Who itself isn't airing and you really don't know what the hell's even going on anymore. But why can't that be Rose Tyler posing as an Irish prostitute in Penny Dreadful? And who's to say that the Tenth Doctor isn't in disguise as a detective inspector investigating a murder in a little town called Broadchurch? Well, it's just bonkers really, isn't it? Everybody knows that the Whoniverse is a weird and wonderful place but theorising that its canon stretches into the realms of other shows is taking it a bit too far (but let's be honest, does Doctor Who even have a canon anymore?). The gap between each new Doctor Who series is a dark and difficult time, though, so you can be forgiven for clinging on to hope, however desperate your attempts to convince yourself that Doctor Who is "technically" on all year round might be. Saying that, John Barrowman is strangely similar in everything he's in so maybe Captain Jack really is popping up in other televisual universes. Stranger things have happened.
