10 Similarities You Never Noticed In Family Guy And The Simpsons

4. The Similar Roles Of The African-American Characters

Homer and Peter both have a black friend who€™s a drinking buddy. Cleveland Brown spends most of his time at The Drunken Clam, whilst Carl Carlson is usually found at Moe€™s. The usual judge in both shows is also black; Judge Roy Snyder in The Simpsons and the judge on Family Guy who€™s voiced by Phil LaMarr. That€™s not odd in itself, but it is when you consider the scarcity of black characters on both shows. Ollie Williams and Dr Hibbert are also parodies - the first of generic black weathermen and the latter of Bill Cosby. The next most significant black characters, Drederick Tatum and Jerome (The Simpsons€™ Lou is apparently Asian), are big, tough, and have moustache-goatee facial hair. So on both shows the four most frequently-appearing black characters are, in order, a drinking buddy, a parody, a hard man, and a judge. That's so bizarrely similar it can't even have been planned.
