With new characters comes the opportunity to start stretching out the backstories of our well-known friends, as well as the new ones. The initial outbreak was more than a little glossed over and, as was seen from the events at the CDC in Season 1, would be a gold mine for stories and gore. Perhaps the producers are reluctant to have their show likened to Lost, but used properly this particular story telling technique can add to the understanding of a characters motivation, as well as give hints of tales yet to come. Who wouldnt want to see some footage of when things first started to go awry? The logical thing would be to follow a team of scientists working on the virus and show the initial outbreak. This could involve our old friend from the CDC, even if only via a video call, to provide a link to Ricks group. This could be juxtaposed with the current state of whatever facility the team are working in, desperately trying to find a cure.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
