The town of Pawnee, Indiana has a surprising number of wealthy people living there. A prime example is the aforementioned Dennis Feinstein, a rich perfumer and professional sack of crap. Dr. Lu Saperstein, father to Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa, is also an incredibly successful businessman, unlike his children who are the worst.

But the main business in Pawnee is Sweetums, a candy manufacturer that has been around almost as long as the city. It is the primary employer and accounts for a huge portion of their economy. It also accounts for a huge portion of the pollution in Pawnee as well as being a massive contributor to both obesity and diabetes rates.

Run by the Newport family for generations, former beauty queen Jessica Wicks married into the family and took control of the company when her husband died. She proved to be excellent at operating the company, starting a charity wing with the sole purpose of covering up Sweetums many and frequent transgressions.
