The Rings of Power trailer is narrated by a character called Elanor "Nori" Brandyfoot. Because of her childlike features and small stature, anyone would presume she's a hobbit.

However, hobbits the way we know them didn't exist until after Sauron was defeated. During The Second Age, there were three sub-species of halfling - harfoots, stoors, and fallohides. Living separately for millennia, the three childfolk eventually interbred, creating a single variant - the hobbit.

Although all the three creatures are all small, beardless, and lack footwear, they have a few differences. Nori's race, the harfoots, have darker skin, live in holes called smials, and are the shortest of the three. Harfoots were the ones who colonised The Shire and so, are responsible for what the hobbits became. Stoors (like Sméagol) have a bulky physique and usually reside in swamps. Many hobbits of The Third Age can trace their family tree directly to the fair-skinned fallohides, including Bilbo, Frodo, and Pippin.

Because The Rings of Power has emphasised Nori is a harfoot rather than a generic hobbit, the chances of her crossing paths with stoors and fallohides is high.
