The most defining shot of The Rings of Power trailer depicts Galadriel climbing an icy cliff, using a dagger to secure herself in the slippery crag. As soon as Lord of the Rings fans saw this moment, two questions popped in their heads - What is she doing and, more importantly, where is she going?

Although some speculated Galadriel was traversing the snow-topped mountains of Moria or passing the glacier-riddled region of Helcaraxe, neither are true. According to an in-depth Vanity Fair interview, this sequence shows Galadriel passing Forodwaithe. During the First Age, Morgoth the Black Foe used his evil magic to bring about an endless winter on this land. After he was defeated, Morgoth's minions evaded capture by fleeing to the far north of Middle-Earth, where Forodwaith resides. Because these dark servants slew Galadriel's brother, she has taken it upon herself to hunt them down.
