10 Smartest Doctor Who Characters
6. The Master
The Doctor’s childhood friend and Moriarty to their Holmes, the Master is the peak of Time Lord rogues. The Master’s schemes tend to fall into three categories: survival, conquest or the death of the Doctor. Starting off at the academy with the Doctor, both of them sharing a passion for their learning and being of similar intellects.
Over the years, the Master has had plenty of schemes to try and succeeded on plenty of occasions. In his Seventh incarnation, the Doctor called the Master an “evil genius”, whilst the Tenth has referred to him as “stone-cold brilliant”.
One of the defining features of the Master is his ability to disguise himself in order to get away with his schemes in peace. Whilst the disguise may fall away eventually, still the Master’s capacity to embed himself in a place make his plans that bit more smarter.
Through his schemes the Master showed his scientific genius in creating all manors of devices to assist his plots. Throughout his life, the Master showed his intelligence through the use of his TARDIS, using it as a tool to achieve his goals. Also, the Master’s largest strength was his lack of morals when it came to other life, allowing him the upper hand on many occasions in order to get the job done.
However, the reason the Master is the lowest renegade Time Lord on this list is because it’s their mistakes and general personality which sees the Doctor defeat them on plenty of occasions. Often the Master’s ego is what allows the Doctor to better them.
