10 South Park Secrets You Totally Missed

9. South Park's Fictional Cheesy Poofs Became A Reality

Within the pilot episode of South Park, we were immediately given our first fictional cartoon food – cheesy poofs, seen being eaten by Cartman as he watches the television. They would become a prominent item seen throughout the show, including a whole catchy commercial jingle made about them. They are essentially the show’s answer to Cheetos, without the need for product placement.

There was also going to be a subplot in South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut in which the snack was going to be revealed as Canadian and therefore banned due to Mothers Against Canada but it was ultimately left out of the final cut.

However, Comedy Central has branched out their own merchandised version of Cheesy Poofs which has been available to fans at least twice. It was a limited edition item which came available to shelves in 1998 and then on their website in 2011. They teamed up with Frito Lay to release repackaged Cheeto Puffs as their own.

We can only hope they’ll do limited edition Cheesy Poofs for a third time.
