10 Star Trek Characters Who Came Back From The Dead

3. Lt. Shax

Lt. Shax's death was a truly shocking moment from the first season finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks. To be fair, the fact that he died in the line of duty isn't the surprising thing - frankly, that's everything he ever wanted. It was that in No Small Parts he was killed in such an unexpected, albeit heroic, way.

He was definitively killed, so it was rather surprising when he appeared in the second season (despite a quick, since-deleted cameo in a teaser trailer). One person to pick up on this strangeness was Ensign Rutherford. He, quite rightly, had assumed Shax dead forever.

The return of Shax solidified a long-standing trope: if one is a member of the senior staff, then death does not always need to stay permanent. It may involve a koala and a black mountain, but there are ways to come back.
