10 Star Trek Characters You Totally Forgot Existed

2. Crewman Cutler

Kellie Waymire's tragic death in 2003 would cut short the possibility of Elizabeth Cutler's return to Enterprise and in that instance the producers also chose not to recast the role.

Cutler appeared in three season one episodes; Strange New World, Dear Doctor and the penultimate story of the year, Two Days and Two Nights. Serving as an exobiologist and later as a trainee medic, Cutler was entrusted with the role of Chief Medical Officer while Phlox hibernated having to awaken him to treat Ensign Mayweather which was beyond her capabilities at the time.

From her interactions with the crew, viewers can see that Crewman First Class Elizabeth Cutler was destined for a much longer tenure on the show with three strong appearances in Enterprise's initial season. Indeed, her appearance in Dear Doctor and Two Days and Two Nights were a central part of the episodes, marking her as one of the more important supporting cast.

Having appeared in a supporting role during Voyager's Muse, the producers had hoped that Kellie Waymire would return to the role but tragic events meant otherwise. Cutler wasn't mentioned in season two but was given a respectful mention in season three following Kellie Waymire's death.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
