10 Stars Who Turned Down The Simpsons

2. Bruce Springsteen

Bob Dylan and Tom Cruise have proved down the years to be particularly-difficult celebrities to tie down for a role in The Simpsons, but few have been harder to convince than Bruce Springsteen. 'The Boss' has thrice turned down roles on the animated comedy, dismissing the chance to star in "Radio Bart", "One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish" and "When You Dish Upon a Star". Ouch. Sting and Larry King were each drafted in to replace the Born in the U.S.A. singer when he spurned The Simpsons and he has rejected the show so many times it has actually become something of a running joke. In episode "Love is a Many-Splintered Thing", Bart is having girl troubles and begins daydreaming, mentally asking himself what his heroes would do to win her over. Wolverine tells him to "Slash her! Slash her good" and Max Weinberg (above the caption that 'Springsteen wasn't available') advises him to "Start playing the drums. No woman can resist a drummer."
