10 Stars Who Turned Down The Simpsons

3. Tom Cruise

Like Bob Dylan, Hollywood star Tom Cruise twice rejected a special gust part on The Simpsons. The Vanilla Sky actor first rebuffed the animation's advances when offered a part in 1993 episode "Brother from the Same Planet". Cruise was to play the role of a member of 'The Bigger Brothers' who step in to father children from broken homes, after Bart seeks out their help following a row with Homer. The 'Bigger Brother' who was assigned to Bart was even called Tom, but instead Phil Hartman was written in when Cruise refused the part. Cruise was again asked to appear on The Simpsons in Season 10's 1998 episode "When You Dish Upon a Star", alongside his then-wife Nicole Kidman. The episode's plot centred on a parasailing Homer crashing into the lives of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, who got the parts instead when Cruise declined once more.
