10 Stupidly Risky Plans From TV's Most Notorious Villains

7. The Gerhardt Guide To Terrible Planning - Fargo

Fargo€™s second season took us back to the 70s for more tales of quirky Minnesotan murder. It follows Lou Solverson as he finds himself stuck in the middle of a turf war between two rival crime syndicates. The faction that viewers are more invested in is the Gerhardts - an old-school, family-run operation €“ who are trying to keep hold of what they see as rightly theirs. After the head of the family suffers a stroke, leadership of their enterprise is vied for by both the mother, Floyd, and her oldest son, Dodd. While this clearly causes some friction, which isn't ideal considering the ongoing conflict with Chicago, this doesn't excuse the lack of logic to their actions throughout the season. While it's true that Ray Romano€™s brother calls out their operation for being outdated, they must have been doing something right; they run all of the criminal activity in Fargo. So why is it that every plan they make is an unattainable gamble? One of the most recognisable family members besieging a police station (and then deciding against it), using an inexperienced kid with cerebral palsy as an assassin and running blindly into every single ambush set for them doesn't scream professionalism. Also, employing an embittered, deadly Native American and treating him like crap at every given opportunity was just asking for trouble. It€™s really no surprise that when the final credits roll, the only living Gerhardt will be spending most of their life behind bars.
