10 Stupidly Risky Plans From TV's Most Notorious Villains

2. Heisenberg's Nazi Prison Party - Breaking Bad

For all the failings Walter White suffered, a lack of smarts wasn't one of them. Unfortunately this quality was swallowed by an immense hubris, which compelled him into becoming a self-made meth kingpin as opposed accepting a job offer from an old friend. Admittedly, the latter wouldn't have made such an interesting TV show. Walt carries out a number of risky plans throughout the show€™s run, but they often succeed because of his direct involvement. Whenever things get tough he throws on the Heisenberg fedora, menacingly quotes from a science book and, just like that, it all works out. However, he abandons this tried and true formula in season five, when he decides to trust the ability of some greasy Neo-Nazis to orchestrate a prison stabathon. During a gripping sequence that flicks between Brian Cranston tensely glaring at a watch, and men in orange jumpsuits being shanked into mush, the whole thing reeks of desperation. There's no margin for failure and nothing he can do to intercede. It's almost as if Walt fancied a break from logic and invited some despicable racists along for the ride. Fair enough Walter may not have had many options but the choice of accomplices, insane time frame and near impossible odds are ridiculous even for New Mexico€™s answer to Pablo Escobar.
