10 Superhero TV Shows That Completely Missed The Mark
8. No Ordinary Family (2010-2011)
No Ordinary Family, apart from sounding like a bad foreign movie translation of The Incredibles, is an example of a superhero TV series released just as the monumental Marvel machine was clicking into gear.
The shows premise was promising. The Powell’s are your stereotypical, all-American family, who following a plane crash in the Amazon gain superhuman powers. Subsequently, the father gets super strength (naturally), the mother gets super speed (highly likely), the angsty teenage daughter becomes telepathic (deeper meaning perhaps?) and the son becomes a math genius (because why not?).
Despite the fresh premise, solid lead performances and interesting mixture of supernatural and everyday life, the show’s questionable writing, dialogue and low ratings led to cancellation after one series.
The show’s lead, Michael Chiklis, saw decent success as the Thing in the Fantastic Four films. Sadly, this outing was too ordinary and hardly fantastic.
