It is a very exciting time if you are a fan of the superhero genre in both movies and television. Marvel's universe has grown more than anyone could have ever predicted when Iron Man came out, but Agents of SHIELD definitely stumbled a bit before finding its footing as an essential part of the shared universe. Anchored by Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson, the ragtag team on AoS has begun earning the love and respect of fans everywhere. DC has yet to really get their shared universe off the ground, but their representation on television has never been better. Stephen Amell and company and made Arrow into a legitimate success and the upcoming Flash series looks very promising from the previews. All in all, it's a great time to be a masked crusader. Superheroes have been mainstays in both film and television for several decades, but special effects only just recently caught up to the minds of all those comic book writers who brought these characters to life. With movies like The Avengers making over a billion dollars and characters like Wolverine and Iron Man appearing in upwards of six movies and counting, there is no better time to land the role of a superhero. Movies may be where the big money is, but television is where the best storytelling can take place. Instead of a two-hour adventure that may or may not lead to a sequel, television shows can tell tales that span entire seasons or more. This is especially good for superheroes who have very long histories and colorful personalities.
