10 Superheroes Who Would Work Better On Television
6. Nick Fury
This slide contains spoilers from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Samuel L. Jackson owns the role of Nick Fury in the present day, but that doesn't mean that an origin story can't be fleshed out through a television series. There is so much of Nick Fury's history that the MCU has failed to address that a TV series would allow fans to see a whole new side of the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. In reality, Fury has been around since before World War I, but has remained virtually ageless thanks in part to the Infinity Formula. The comics have featured Life Model Decoys as a way for Fury to keep up his ageless act once the formula began to lose its effects, but the LMD concept has yet to make its way to the MCU outside of a brief reference in The Avengers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNBRum247m0 An origin story set during the same period as Agent Carter with a younger actor portraying the spy with an eye patch would be a great way to explore the history of the character without having to recast a central character to the present day films. Crossovers with Agent Carter would allow for a lot of hype and new concepts could be introduced through the show that carry over into present day films featuring Jackson. Exploring the early spying exploits of Nick Fury would provide for a lot of entertaining action as well as give the MCU a new layer of mythology. Just for fun, a scene from the David Hasselhoff TV movie about Nick Fury has been included instead of a scene featuring Jackson that you have all seen a million times.
I have been a writer for Bleacher Report for several years, and am now happy to also be a writer at What Culture! I do my best to contribute anywhere I can in a positive way, and that includes in my writing. Some people call me The Doctor, but Chris is fine.
