10 Superheroes Who Would Work Better On Television

7. Dick Tracy

One of the few titles not owned by DC or Marvel to leave a lasting impression on the comic world was Dick Tracy. Originally a comic strip appearing in newspapers, Dick Tracy soon evolved into a franchise that included TV and feature films, cartoons, radio shows, books, comics and a wide assortment of toys and merchandise. As one of the first comic strip characters adapted for live-action, Dick Tracy has a legacy going back almost 100 years, with Warren Beatty being the most recent actor to portray the sleuth in the 1990 film adaptation. Almost as famous as Tracy himself were his assortment of wrist-worn gadgets, some of which ended up being very popular toys following the release of the most recent film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OegTQVFX2QY A new series starring the detective character could go two ways. Either a classic approach could be taken with all the ridiculously grotesque villains and an early time period, or the story could be modernized for the current generation with less focus on deformed enemies and more focus on story. Either way, there is almost no way that a show like this would not be successful with the kind of programs that thrive in today's market. If we can have 367 detective shows with anagrams, certainly there's room for Dick Tracy.
