One of the few titles not owned by DC or Marvel to leave a lasting impression on the comic world was Dick Tracy. Originally a comic strip appearing in newspapers, Dick Tracy soon evolved into a franchise that included TV and feature films, cartoons, radio shows, books, comics and a wide assortment of toys and merchandise. As one of the first comic strip characters adapted for live-action, Dick Tracy has a legacy going back almost 100 years, with Warren Beatty being the most recent actor to portray the sleuth in the 1990 film adaptation.
