10 Supernatural Episodes Which Totally Broke The Mold
8. “Scoobynatural” (Season 13, Episode 16)
What do you get when the son of Lucifer falls asleep watching an episode of Scooby Doo on a haunted TV? Scoobynatural is what you get!
This highly anticipated and enjoyable episode thrust the trio of Sam, Dean and Castiel inside an animated episode of the Scooby Doo universe, where we get to see Dean try to woo Daphne while Velma, initially intimidated by Sam’s intelligence, ultimately shows a romantic infatuation with him. But the highlight of the episode comes when the brothers reveal to Mystery, Inc. the truth of their fictional reality. This leads to a comedically heartbreaking scene where the teenagers face an existential crisis, with even the usually unflappable Fred falling into a weeping mess.
Some may see this episode as a mere gimmick, and it might very well be, but that didn’t deter the real current voice actors of Scooby Doo from jumping on board to reprise their roles. That means that this wasn’t merely a one-off episode, but, rather, a full crossover between two fictional universes. Additionally, we were treated to the real power of the Mystery, Inc. van which shows itself capable of outmaneuvering Dean’s beloved Chevy Impala.
