10 Supporting TV Characters That Completely Stole The Spotlight
1. Literally Every Other Character - How I Met Your Mother
Ted Mosby has to be one of the worst leading characters of a prime time sitcom ever. The character was selfish, arrogant, misogynistic, a terrible friend, terrible with women, snobby, disrespectful, and blamed everybody else for his problems. No wonder he couldn't get a girlfriend.
This is a guy who left a woman at the altar and a guy who made his girlfriend (also his best friend) give up her beloved dogs because they reminded him of her exes. Who does that?
Instead, the only reason people watched How I met Your Mother was A) to find out who the damn mother was and B) Barney Stinson, ok and other members of the cast too.
Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) was a joy to watched and served as the most relatable character on the show. In fact, Barney's character development was much more interesting than Ted's as Ted just seemed to get darker and darker while Barney went from a misogynist idiot to a somewhat well-rounded man.
The other characters also had much better storylines and backstories, such as Lily's breakdown, Robin being afraid of commitment, and Marshall's conflict with cooperate conglomerates and saving the world. Sorry Ted, you just didn't do it for us.
