This one doesn't have to be perceived and interpreted through the show's dialogue, You's literal star has gone on record to state his disdain for fans of the Netflix thriller. Course he doesn't hate all of You's fan's, just the thirsty ones.

You see, Penn Badgley, the lucky man who landed the role of psycho stalker Joe Goldberg, is not the ugliest of serial killers. In fact, he's pretty darn sexy. This, obviously, isn't a surprise to any tv and film watchers as Hollywood seems jam-packed with the world's best-looking creatures. But the problem with You lies in the attractiveness of its star, although this wouldn't be a problem if fans weren't so freaky.

All of this to say, instead of being repulsed by creepy Joe and his sinister internal monologue, fans were as unhealthily obsessed with him as he was with his prey.

Badgley has repeatedly shut down fans on Twitter, Instagram and even in press interviews, telling them that they're interpreting the show wrong. At this point, you can clearly hear the hatred and resentment in his witty yet blunt responses online.
