10 Terrible CGI Moments In Big Budget TV Shows
6. The Walking Dead - Deer
Featuring hordes of flesh-eating zombies, The Walking Dead's effects department certainly know their way around practical effects, having won an Emmy for their work on the make-up worn by the shows "walkers".
Despite their obvious effects pedigree, now and then a little blunder might slip through and suspend our belief in the dark, gritty reality of the zombie apocalypse, and that's okay. Small mistakes are easily forgiven.
Small, mind you. Not massive, glaring, and frankly ugly CGI work that looks as though it's been pilfered from late '90s clipart, which is exactly what we were given in 2017 episode "Say Yes".
While clearing an abandoned carnival, main character and modern-day cowboy Rick Grimes spots a deer grazing just a few feet away from a group of rabid zombies. Naturally, he ignores the crazed reanimated corpses attempting to ingest him to get a better look at the animal, only to show the audience at home a deer that looks as though it was animated over a lunch break. I'm not saying I could do better, but I honestly couldn't do much worse.
