The Wendigo is achieved through practical effects creating a pale, tall and gaunt figure that is something that could easily fit in the Guillermo Del Toro book of practical horror creatures.

Combining that with the act of cannibalism, which is the key motivation for a Wendigo, it leaves you with a truly terrifying creature and one fitting of Sam and Dean’s second adventure.
