Could Jaime ever truly kill Cersei though? His final act in Season 7 is to abandon her; given everything else he’s been through in his redemption arc, he doesn’t need to kill her to clear the red in his ledger, as satisfying as it would be to watch.
While Tyrion killing Cersei is the obvious answer to Maggy’s prophecy, it’s so obvious that it immediately threw the spotlight onto Jaime.
