10 Theories For The Final Season Of Game Of Thrones
5. Jonsa
Incest is nothing new in the show’s universe (not that it would even be incest with Jon’s parentage), and it would certainly consolidate power within the North. Sansa’s frosty reception towards Dany as she hands over Winterfell is clear, but Daenerys can never truly rule the North; not without Jon, at least.
If that’s the central Stark conflict, with Sansa’s competent rule of Winterfell and tide turning appearance in the Battle Of The Bastards competing with Jon’s gender, Northern grit and experience in the Night’s Watch, a marriage of the two is a simple way to settle it.
Robb put love before everything and the North paid dearly. Jon, more loyal and dedicated to what is ‘right’ than even the honourable Robb Stark, may well set his emerging love for Daenerys aside in the interests of the North.
If the idea of Sansa and Jon getting married is a little icky (they were raised as brother and sister, blood notwithstanding), you definitely won’t like the original draft. Martin’s initial outline, which unbelievably was just for a short story, ended with a union between Jon and Arya. That’s a nine-year-old Arya Stark, too.
