10 Theories For The Final Season Of Game Of Thrones
3. Viserion Comes Back To Life
The Night’s King having a dragon certainly levels the playing field somewhat. Yes, Dany has two but despite Jon and Tyrion’s apparent connection to the dragons, only she can fly them. Qyburn’s bolt and Cersei’s continued refusal to offer a truce means the two remaining ones are not guaranteed safety either.
Despite Melisandre having plenty of convenient places to disappear out of the plot like so many secondary characters before her, she’s stuck around. Not only that, she’s with Daenerys, despite having no real connection to her cause. Is this all the will of the Lord Of Light, and does it connect to Viserion?
Whether Melisandre can bring a dragon back to life as she did Jon is unknown; how her magic works on white walkers is unclear too. However, she does tell dear spider Varys that she must die in the strange country of Westeros, as well as telling Arya they’ll meet again. Will her revival of Viserion demand too much power and prove her undoing?
Of course, if Qyburn’s bolt successfully downs Drogon, perhaps Melisandre’s magic will be put to work on him instead. They must be keeping her around for something though, right?
