7. Into The Doctor's Life
The first time viewers of the revived series got to see the Doctor, he was in the middle of blowing up a department store whilst saving Rose Tyler, adding mystery to this incarnate. But what about the Doctor's first ever appearance, back in 1963? Saturday 23rd November 1963, and Doctor Who was broadcast. Viewers were introduced an elderly man with his granddaughter in a junkyard, whisking away two school teachers. Only known as the Doctor, he was left wondering through time and space with his granddaughter Susan, in exile from his people. Or so people were led to believe. It was actually the Doctor that decided to run away from his people as he felt observing was simply a waste of the power that his people had. But that's all the viewers know of the Doctor, concerning his pre-time travel life. The question is, why hasn't this been explored? The Doctor has had a whole life before pursuing his time travelling life. From Series 1 to the end of the Eleventh Doctor, the subplot was mainly about the Time War and its everlasting burden towards the Doctor, and that - to some - would appear pointlessly long. Remember, the Doctor did have a family, and with the success of the events of The Day Of The Doctor, his life on pre-war Gallifrey can finally be explored in a thorough depth. So what are they waiting for?
