Given that the show was broadcast mere months after forklift truck driver Steve Wright was jailed for killing five sex-workers in Ipswich, the comments generated over 500 complaints. The BBC stood by Clarkson this time and refused to punish him for the remarks. The presenter himself merely laughed it off in interviews.
