10 Things David Tennant Has Done Since Leaving Doctor Who

1. He Solved A Murder

Again, sort of! This case is actually still ongoing in the critically acclaimed ITV crime drama Broadchurch which David Tennant leads (alongside Olivia Colman, making him half of one of the most formidable on screen parternships ever) as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy. In the smash hit first series, which aired in 2013, he was assigned to uncover the truth behind the murder of Danny Latimer but as the weeks went by it slowly but surely transpired that Alec was harbouring some dark secrets of his very own. He didn't turn out to be the murderer (oh, what an almighty twist that would have been!) but he was dealing with secret health issues whilst battling some personal demons relating to his previous unsolved case, the circumstances of which are currently be explored in the latest series which also sees David sharing the screen with a handful of other familiar faces from the Doctor Who universe. It's safe to say that Broadchurch has been a phenomenon, so much so that Fox attempted to capitalise on its success by launching a US remake, entitled Gracepoint, which also starred David in the lead role as Detective Emmett Carver. It faired reasonably well in the ratings but was ultimately cancelled after one series. David did get some exposure on American TV - and an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman - out of it, though, so swings and roundabouts.
