It's hard to believe now, knowing that he is one of the hottest properties in world television, that Jim Parsons is actually the veteran of no less than fifteen failed television pilots. Having said that, he doesn't seem to mind, having said I like auditioning, very much. I enjoy working on things, getting prepared", but he has gone into detail about his rise from wannabe actor to Big Bang superstardom:
My first pilot was `Blitt Happens with Fox. The Farrelly brothers directed. It didn't go. The next one was for CBS. It was `Taste, Jane Krakowskis show. And that didn't go. But thats where I met up with CBS and did a holding deal with them for the next year.
He then worked six episodes of the CBS show Judging Amy, before trying for all of CBS pilots for the following year - none of which worked out but, having read the role of Sheldon Cooper, he knew it was for him:
Thats the way it goes. Thats whats so rare about it. I tested for several that year and just didn't get them. Thats why I had to prepare for this one because I felt this was probably the one that was going to fit, so you've got to be ready if the doors going to open.
