8. Parsons & His Partner Were Honoured With An Inspiration Award
It's no secret that Jim Parsons is a gay man - and nor should it be. He has been happily involved with art director Todd Spiewak since 2002. What you might not know, however, is that the pair were honoured for being an inspirational gay couple at the GLESN Respect Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California back in 2013. Parsons was typically grounded about the accolade, saying this upon hearing about the award:
It was surprising to hear that we were getting an inspiration award. We feel very average, we feel very normal. We really do. The strange stuff is the Hollywood stuff we have to walk through, not the gay stuff we have to walk through.
He later went on to say:
Ive never considered myself an activist. Ive never considered my relationship with Todd to be an act of activism. Rather simply, its an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs a regular life, boring love.
Suffice to say, they are very deserving of the recognition.
