10 Things Doctor Who Wants You To Forget

With so many writers having worked on Doctor Who over the decades, it's no surprise that certain things get introduced, and are then swiftly forgotten about.

When the Tenth Doctor first meets River Song, she says that her version of the Time Lord is able to open the TARDIS with a snap of his fingers.

At the end of the story, empowered by this knowledge, the Doctor does just that, for the first time in his history. It's a neat little trick, but one that has rarely come up again.

It's not been totally overlooked - it happens when he first shows Amy the TARDIS, for example - but it's more of a gimmick that the writers throw in when they can be bothered, or when they remember. And honestly, the amount of times the TARDIS keys have been a plot point makes you wonder why the Doctor even needs keys, when a simple finger snap will do the trick.

And speaking of forgotten methods of interacting with the TARDIS doors, there was that time when the Tenth Doctor locked them like a car.

The joke wasn't funny, and unsurprisingly, this ability has been swept under the rug ever since.
