10 Things Futurama Wants You To Forget
8. The Mistake Riddled 'Into The Wild Green Yonder'
In between 'The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings' and 'Rebirth', there were four straight-to-DVD Futurama movies released. The fourth and final of which was 'Into the Wild Green Yonder', that acted as a second farewell to the show, with no guarantee that it would be picked back up.
However, the timing of its production couldn't have been worse, and it was greatly affected by the writers' strike in 2007 and 2008. After battling these problems, the final product seems very poorly put together, and it is riddled with mistakes.
Firstly there are a couple of animation issues that, on their own aren't the worst thing in the world, but certainly add up. Leo Wong during the poker tournament is depicted as having five fingers on his hand, and when the Professor is holding up a dollar note, it is clearly Hermes' hand in the following close up shot.
Then there are the numerous plot holes. Why did Fry's new powers not kick in until the crew returned for the opening of Mars Vegas? When Bender meets the Donbot, why didn't the head of the Robot Mafia recognise him as Blotto from 'Bender Gets Made'? Why is Teller's head still dead in a jar? Why has the Number 9 guy never been wearing a foil hat in his previous appearances in the show? How is Fry able to get a job with Leo Wong with his career chip implanted? And possibly the worst one, why was Leo surprised by Amy revealing herself to be a feminista when just minutes before, he was testifying against her in court?
