10 Things Futurama Wants You To Forget

For a cartoon, Futurama has never shied away from sex as a topic, or even sex appeal. Fry has found himself in more than a few steamy situations, and for the most part in the early seasons, it was done tastefully, and part of a story.

Towards the back end of the series however, the show far too often took their two strong female characters, and relegated them to wearing skimpy costumes for the sake of it, and putting them in unnecessarily sexual situations.

In 'Bender's game', Amy appeared sparingly as a mythical nymphomaniac, and shared a passionate kiss with Leela for seemingly no reason other than giving Fry, Bender, and the Professor something to stare at. 'The Butterjunk Effect' threw both women into a competitive butterfly league as an excuse to have them wear virtually nothing, and in 'Zapp Dingbat', Leela sported lingerie in an attempt to seduce Zapp, despite her ongoing relationship with Fry.

This just seemed to get more and more frequent in the later years of the show, which is incredibly disappointing because both Amy and Leela had been built up to be able to offer so much more than hollow sex appeal.
