Okay so it mightn't be the sort of tedious administrative drama that we'd get if SAMCRO decided to follow the AMA's rules, but there is still a bit of behind-the-scenes finagling about the running of an outlaw gang we get to see on screen. Sons Of Anarchy is mainly about the drama that occurs between the warring factions within the group, which means that for all the scenes of people getting horribly murdered (or worse), we also see a lot of people sat around a table discussing business. They even have a specific piece of furniture for it, with a hand-carved SAMCRO grim reaper logo in the middle and a gavel! Like a judge. Gavel gavel gavel. Plus the idea of a clubhouse or compound is ripped from the headlines. The administrative side of running an outlaw motorcycle club is pretty accurately depicted in Sons Of Anarchy, too. The organisational structure and hierarchy is true-to-life, too, with actual gangs also having SAMCRO's a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, road captain, sergeant-at-arms and prospective members. The members of the gang on the show are also shown to be relatively uneducated - having been started by young Vietnam vets who since drafted in other bikers whilst they were still nippers - but still very capable, charming and able to handle themselves. Which is exactly how real motorcycle clubs work!
