10 Things That Could Happen In A Doctor Who Movie

1. Winning Back The Earth

The Doctor lands on an alien world. An enemy, preferably the Cybermen, has complete control of it and the Doctor writes it off as lost right from the get go. He goes back to his TARDIS, intending to leave, then he checks his coordinates and realises he's actually on Earth. The Earth has been taken over and the invasion has already happened. Humanity is lost and the Doctor never came to save them. The Doctor would have to overcome odds that he considered impossible and face the fact that before he knew he liked the world in question, he was going to leave and never look back. This would asks interesting questions such as whether he's too cold and detached and would ultimately revitalise the Doctor's passion to save the universe from evil. The Doctor always seems get there in the nick of time to save the day, but what if he was late to the party? The Cybermen are designed to take over worlds by literally assimilating its species into themselves - if any of the Cybermens' previous attacks had not been intercepted by the Doctor, they would have won without question. What's more, putting the terror back into the Cybermen has been the goal of many writers, but none have really captured it aside from the Series 2 two parter Rise of the Cybermen and The Age of Steel. A way to do that would be to show a Cyber-controlled planet, all but devoid of life and converted into the uniformity of grey. The buildings and structures could be changed, the planet could be albeit unrecognisable until the penny drops and the horrible truth is revealed. Such a story would showcase the ability of the Doctor to succeed against the odds. And victory is essential here. Many of the other stories on this list could have dark endings but it's pivotal that the Doctor overcomes here. The Doctor has increasingly become somewhat complacent and this feeling is not made more clear than it is in In the Forest of Night. Clara has no doubt that the Doctor will come up with a plan despite him already saying that it's impossible. Something truly impossible would allow the Doctor to step back and take stock of his love for the universe and particularly fit the introspection of the Twelfth Doctor. Ultimately, while it's not a sure thing, the prospect of a feature film featuring the Doctor and his TARDIS is a likely one. Doctor Who can only expand so much on TV and, while taking that away would be wrong, simultaneously creating other attractions would be ideal to allow the series to reach the new heights it deserves.
