10 Things That Every Parent Of A Doctor Who Fan Should Know

2. They May Love Another Show More

Incredible but true. Some children will blatantly declare that they like €˜Series X€™ better than Doctor Who. Take a deep breath, don€™t cry and remember that you love them. It isn€™t a betrayal or treason. It€™s just a difference in taste. They may be saying it just to wind you up, of course, in which case sobbing will make it worse. Other children are more sensitive and will play down their true favourite in case they upset you. This is sweet but not fair on them. Don€™t take it personally and encourage your children never to hide what they love. If you€™ve ever felt reluctant to admit you liked Doctor Who, you€™ll know exactly how they feel. There is lots of good telly about so it is no surprise if junior falls for something else. Give their show a chance and watch it with them. If it€™s awful, leave them to it and they€™ll catch on eventually. If it€™s good then you€™ve found something else to share with the nipper. Besides, without some competition where would Doctor Who steal half of its ideas from? Remember that time is on your side, too. The Doctor plays the long game. When other good shows have come and gone he, or she, will still be there.

Older than some and taller than most. Grey of eye and white of beard. Stephen's book 'Hiding', about a boy who meets a goblin in a local wood, is available to download from the usual places. Think of it as a scavenger hunt.
