10 Things That Every Parent Of A Doctor Who Fan Should Know

10. Youngsters May Not Be Ready For Who As Soon As You€™d Like

When are kids old enough to watch a series that prides itself on scaring children? Some proud new Whovian parents can€™t wait to get things started. You can nurse a baby while you watch but don€™t expect much reaction. A cat would take more notice. Slightly older children crawl or totter about like destructive Adipose with a death wish. It takes all your attention just to keep them alive and contained. As such, savouring a Doctor Who episode at the same time is impossible. Catching up after the child is asleep is often the only option. Eventually they discover television and you get a fighting chance. But should a two year old really watch a scene where a rug eats a screaming policewoman? Kids may enjoy the music, funny looking people and all the running around. Inevitably though there will be something in it that scares them. If they think that what they are seeing is real, they are too young. If they understand that there won€™t be a Weeping Angel in the toilet then they€™re (probably) okay. Different children are ready at different times and you will know yours better than anyone. It€™s your decision. Welcome to parental responsibility.

Older than some and taller than most. Grey of eye and white of beard. Stephen's book 'Hiding', about a boy who meets a goblin in a local wood, is available to download from the usual places. Think of it as a scavenger hunt.
