10 Things That Need To Happen If Torchwood Comes Back

1. Quality Over Quantity

Torchwood has now been on its hiatus for three years and nobody seems to know when - or even if - it will return to our screens. John Barrowman and Eve Myles have both revealed they're waiting by their phones but it doesn't look like the BBC will be making the call any time soon. As such, any new series would have to bring back the beloved characters with an almighty bang. Torchwood is notorious for coming back with all guns blazing but this was one of the main criticisms which was thrown in the direction of Miracle Day. Its premiere episode was a high octane adventure which promised great things to come but the series as a whole failed to maintain the momentum over its overly long 10 episode run. The concept was intriguing enough but it fizzled into nothingness as a result of its unnecessary filler episodes and by the time the finale eventually arrived, the show had lost its plot and the viewers had lost their interest. As such, any future 'single story' adventure such as Miracle Day or its preceding - and admittedly far superior - Children of Earth would have to judged on quality over quantity. The story of Series 4 could've been told in half as many episodes and achieved twice as much viewer satisfaction and that was one of its key downfalls. Series 3, however, got it just right. It was short but left viewers wanting more and Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter how long the story is, it's all about how it's told. If and when Torchwood returns, let's hope its with a story that's worth telling. What do you think of this list? Is there anything you would or wouldn't like to see in a new series of Torchwood?
